Contrary to popular belief, I didn't run out of clothes on laundry day but if you ever do this is a good look for you. It's clear now more than ever fashion is making the move from over the top to casual looks, definitely in terms of street style - and I'm all about it especially when its sleepwear. The past few season we've seen "pyjama" looks at some of the best houses and even brands dedicated to this trend such as F.R.S. taking some wild prints and putting them on traditional silk pyjama's. This look has definitely made it's appearance in street style shots during fashion week for years but it's really started to catch on. I'm honestly behind this concept so hard because it's so simple to translate into menswear and womenswear - since this look I've worn a silk pyjama robe over an outfit and it was a look! I found this silk set in my pyjama drawer and threw it on with some Dior sunglasses and a sneaker and was ready to go.

I don’t know about you, but in my opinion summer and having a flawless complexion go hand in hand. After winter is my favourite time of year to revamp my skin care regime to make sure I have that clear, glowing, tanned complexion all summer. Summer obviously brings out the oil in everyone’s skin and though having a tan is great, the sun can be super harsh on your skin, so it’s important to take extra care of it. In the beauty industry there are so many products that have claiming to have extraordinary benefits that it's important to let people know what's really working for you and what you're loving.

In regards to my skin type it's definitely oily, I don't think I've ever experienced any type of dryness. But my skin isn't the only part of my body where I’m careful about the products I use. Deciding what to use for my hair and general aesthetic is also so up there in importance. So, I just wanted to do a quick post about what I think everyone needs in their bathroom vanity immediately!

M A K E U P

One of my absolute favourite makeup products right now, and potentially of all time, is the Becca Ever Matte Primer. I have used this product for about two years, and it keeps me matte for upwards of 12 hours. Obviously I do a few minimal touch ups through the day, but this primer definitely keeps all of my other makeup in place and keeps the majority of oil and shine off my skin. I've tried dozens of mattifying primers in the past from almost all brands including Givenchy, Tarte and Makeup Forever, but the Becca one outshines (without the shine) all of the others. The good thing about this product is that it doesn't get cakey or crease in fine lines, and it can also be used on top of makeup to “blot" or refine, throughout the day. I think is great because sometimes I don't want to pile more powder on top of my face halfway through the day.

My current obsession is HIGHLIGHTING. I live for an overly aggressive alien-esque glow that will snatch anyone's soul. I have used almost every highlighter that is raved about and though I do have to say I love all of them, I have recently discovered the Burberry Wet & Dry Eyeshadow in Shell 003. Since then, my “relaxed, everyday" highlight has been perfected. It gives my skin a natural glow that almost looks like a swipe of fine, dewy perspiration glistening off my cheek. I love this because it doesn't look cakey or like an overdone highlight which isn't always suitable for a casual Starbucks run. The plus side of this product is definitely the fact that there is zero fallout and it stays in place with the same intensity of shine all day. For the days when I'm feeling more alien chic I'll spray my brush with Mac Fix+ and then dip into the product for a more pigmented appearance.

H A I R C A R E

I'm unsure as to how I originally discovered this product, and brand in general but I'm so beyond glad I did because it has changed my hair game for better. The Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray has become a product that I can't go a day without. For me, the best way to describe it is a dry shampoo that acts like a hairspray and matte paste all in one. It adds the perfect amount of denseness to my hair so that I don't even need to use hairspray or a paste, it just stays in place. I have given this product to all of my friends and family to use when travelling or getting ready at my house and they have all been obsessed. If you have thin hair (which I don't) this product will triple the volume instantly. As you can tell in my next haircare favourite I love Jen Atkin and her OUAI line, but I have also tried her texturising spray, which has been claimed to be similar to the Oribe and I can't say I was intrigued in the slightest, it just made my hair feel stiff and unmovable.

Being the fan of Jen Atkin that I am, I obviously had to test out all of the products in her line that I thought would be beneficial to my hair. I found the OUAI Finishing Creme and was intrigued by the fact that it was multi-purpose. I'm not entirely sure what exactly it should be used for, but I tend to gravitate towards this product as a heat styling cream, a malleable cream gel, and as a finishing cream to smooth out the ends of my hair. I just apply a small amount of this product to my hair at various stages and it just works wonders. Since using this product my hair blows out straighter and smoother. Also, if I want a slight casual hold in my hair this product is able to hold hair gently in place without that typical hairsprayed look to it. If I want a very crisp look I apply this to the ends of my hair before styling and finishing just to smooth ends down and it does this without a greasy finish or adding unnecessary weight to the hair.

S K I N C A R E

Last but not least, I want to mention a few of my favourite skincare products, which has recently become one of my favourite areas of the beauty industry. I think that keeping your skin healthy and fresh is something that is truly important in prolonging the longevity of your skin.

As I mentioned above I have oily skin especially in the warmer months so finding a good face wash that will actually work towards stopping the oil is difficult, but super important. I've known about this brand for a while, but have never tried any of their products before, so when I heard about the Aesop Amazing Face Cleanser and all of its amazing reviews, I instantly (no exaggeration) went to Saks to pick up a bottle. I was feeling brave and bought the largest size bottle which isn't the cheapest cleanser out there, but I was convinced it would change my life. Here I am 4 months later completely infatuated with the cleanser, this product soaks up the perfect amount of oil from my skin and leaves my skin feeling so clean and fresh, but not dried out at all. I have noticed a drastic decrease in oil and shine on my face since starting to use this product. When I use it, I allow the suds to soak into my skin for about a minute before rinsing it off and I feel like this definitely helps retract all the oil stuck in my pores.

Like most people, I've stumbled across the Herbivore Botanicals Instagram account and liked a few of their aesthetically pleasing pictures of their products. They were kind enough to send me some products to try out and I couldn't be more thankful that they did. I discovered one of my newest obsessions and that is the Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Facial Mist. I spray this on my skin whenever I see the bottle sitting on my vanity - which is at least twice a day. Aside from the amazing scent, this product leaves my skin feeling refreshed, moisturized, glowy and clean without leaving a sticky or wet mess all over my face.

After at least 8 months of me debating purchasing this product I decided to go for it and try something new, a facial oil. This is one of the most talked about beauty products by far over the past few years. The Sunday Riley Luna Sleep Night Oil has undoubtedly changed not only my skin, but my life. Literally. This product decreased the natural oils in my skin, reduced pore size and redness, brightened and evened my complexion. It really brought an overall youthful bounce to my skin. The stunning packaging of the product is a testament to how amazing the product is itself. This product has just about done everything it is promised to do, if not more - not to mention I saw results after just one use. I wake up in the morning and I can physically feel an improvement in my skin. I'm excited to see how this product reacts with my skin over the summer months and I predict nothing but results great enough to snatch the pores right off my face.

This last product isn't directly skincare, but it goes onto your skin, right? I heard about the Scentbird monthly subscription service years ago but never thought to apply because I always thought monthly services were unnecessary and almost obsolete. Scentbird was kind enough to reach out to me and offer me a few months worth of product to sample a few fragrances that I have been curious about. I was about to try out some Viktor and Rolf, Cartier, Tom Ford, and Balenciaga fragrances that have caught my eye in the past but I never knew how they would smell on my skin. The great thing about this service is that the product sizes are just enough to form an opinion on whether or not you like the scent and would want to purchase a full size. Scentbird was kind enough to offer my readers 25% off their subscription using the code MTG25. I have been loving the men's fragrance Spicebomb by Viktor and Rolf this month, and I'll definitely be purchasing the full size.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about what I'm going to be soaking my body in over the summer months and highly encourage you to give some, if not all, of these products a try! Talk Soon!

If you're from Toronto, there's no way you haven't seen this tiny pink playground making its way around Instagram. I've been infatuated since the moment I saw it, and just incase you were wondering- yes. Yes, I have liked pink before Drake wove the soft shade into his 'Hotline Bling' album cover. I found the Yeezy Season 1 invitation Anorak on eBay from a seller whom was actually invited to the shower. I jumped on it so fast because of its simplicity and I know it's bound to become a collectible. I paired it with these Alexander Wang scuba pants I picked up a few seasons ago after I'd lost and rediscovered them a few days ago (tag still intact). I've come into a new shoe-tying technique if you haven't noticed, where I wrap the laces once or twice around my ankle and end it with a little bow. I can't tell you how obsessed I am with the whole aesthetic of it, but I do it now with almost every pair that has long enough laces. I especially can't resist it with a good pair of Fenty Creepers. Talk soon!

Hello again, you can officially say I’m back for good now with a new platform. I've gotten older since my previous blog COMMEdesSTYLE launched 3 years ago, which some of you may remember, and I've certainly changed a lot in regards to my style and what I want people to grasp from my platform. I want this website to be a place where you all can come and learn about fashion trends, personal style, what I'm doing, listening to, eating and where I'm travelling. This isn't just a place for people to see my personal style, as not everyone will relate. Over the past year, ever since I stopped regularly posting on my old site, I was constantly brainstorming for what I wanted to do when I re-launched. Now that I’m back, I hope to create some amazing content that everyone is going to enjoy. Talk soon!
